The Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia (ULUPUDS) is a unique social, non-govermental, non-party organisation and voluntary professional association, which provides independent Serbian artists an environment to work freely in. Thanks to ULUPUDS, Serbia's independent artists can exercise their rights, both creatively and in terms of promoting their socio-legal status.
ULUPUDS brings together the most prominent artists (there are around 1200 members, 500 of whom are independent artists) in nine separate sections: architecture, painting and graphics (applied painting, applied graphics, illustration, caricatures, comic strips, conservation and restoration), textile and modern clothing, scenography and costume design, design (graphic, industrial, and visual communication), artistic photography, ceramics and glass, sculpture, and a section for theory, critique and the history of art.
The Association`s galleries include: SINGIDUNUM Gallery, 40 Knez Mihailova Street and SINGIDUNUM "Small Gallery", 12 Uzun Mirkova Street; both in Belgrade.
Every year, ULUPUDS organises more than forty independent and group exibitions both in its own and in rented gallery premises.
ULUPUDS's regular exhibitions include: the May exhibition (a review of all the Association`s sections and professional works, held in May – June); an exhibition for new members; the Belgrade Ceramics Biennial; the biennial Belgrade`s Golden Pen international exhibition (illustration exhibition, October – November); Golden Smile (caricature exhibition, October – November); the SOLJA Belgrade circle international ceramics exhibition; the Ceramics Biennial etc. ULUPUDS also sends designs to international shows, such as the Prague Scenography and Costume Design quadrennial, the Illustration Biennial in Bratislava etc; and co-operates with other cultural organisations at home and abroad.
In addition to exhibitions, ULUPUDS enables artists to do business freely via its own member support service.
ULUPUDS works with similar cultural organisations in Serbia and abroad, exchanging plans, programmes etc.
